May is Mental Health Awareness Month. A month dedicated to increase awareness of the importance of mental health. This month weʻd like to recognize Koʻolau Clubhouse, located in Kaneohe, whose mission is to end social and economic isolation for people with mental illness by providing a place of belonging, learning, and maintaining healthy habits.
We had the privilege of partnering with Koʻolau Clubhouse for over 4 years as part of their transitional employment program. We employed members of the clubhouse working on building their skills and confidence to ready them for the work force. In 2020 we were honored to be nominated and receive an award from Mental Health America of Hawaii. View our acceptance speech here.
We are touched by the success stories and with Koʻolau Clubhouseʻs dedication to their mission. It truly is an organization filled with the aloha spirit! Pictured above and below are members, Jeannie & Ella, that worked at Global Village Kailua. View the you tube video we put together to highlight Koʻolau Clubhouse.
We encourage you to check out Koʻolau Clubhouse. They are always in need of donations, employment opportunities and support. Additionally, if you or a loved one can benefit from their services, please contact them.
May is a time to support those of us struggling with mental illness. Itʻs also a time to honor organizations such as Koʻolau Clubhouse that are working hard every day to decrease the stigma of mental illness.
