Cozy looks a little different in Hawaiʻi.
It doesn’t necessarily take cold weather, boots or layers. Around here, cozy is more of a mood — a slow breakfast, your favorite graphic tee or sweatshirt, a good book, an afternoon on the couch, or deciding there’s absolutely nowhere you need to be.
So as everyone starts talking about fall, we thought we’d share a few of our favorite ways to do cozy, Hawaiʻi style.
Cozy Mornings, Hawaiʻi Style
Our ideal cozy mornings include waking up to the smell of fresh rain and, more importantly, breakfast.
Spam & eggs with a cup of Kona coffee, fresh papaya or mango from the farmers market, a loco moco, or a stack of ube pancakes — because you can never go wrong with something sweet.
Maybe breakfast happens at the kitchen counter. Maybe it’s at a favorite local breakfast spot. Either way, it’s about slowing down and enjoying every morsel of goodness.
Staying In Is a Plan
We love a day out, but staying home deserves more credit.
Open the windows, let the trade winds in, put on something comfy and claim your spot on the couch. Add a favorite show, poke bowl or takeout, the dog curled up next to you and maybe a blanket when the breeze kicks in.
And if someone asks what you’re doing today?
You have plans.
Beach + Books = A Pretty Good Weekend
Being cozy doesn't always mean staying inside.
Give us a beach chair, a spot in the shade, sunglasses, something cold to drink and a book we can't put down and we're set for the afternoon.
No complicated plans. No schedule. And ideally no reason to check what time it is.
If the book is really good, consider the entire weekend booked.
Nope. Not Today.
There are days for getting things done.
And then there are Nope. Not Today. days.
Maybe that means headphones on under a palm tree. Maybe it's finding a quiet spot at the beach. Maybe it's a walk with no particular destination. Or maybe your biggest accomplishment is moving from the bed to the couch.
We're good with all of the above.
Living in Hawaiʻi reminds us that slowing down doesn't always require a reason. Every day doesn't have to be packed with plans.
Kona in the Morning, Mai Tais at Sunset
This might be our ideal schedule.
Start with coffee — preferably while the morning is still quiet. Let the day happen. And somewhere around pau hana, switch that coffee for something cold and find a good place to watch the sky change.
Bonus points for good company, good pupus and nowhere you need to be afterward.
Our Kind of Cozy
Maybe that's really what cozy means to us.
It isn't a season or a temperature. It's enjoying where you are — good food, comfortable clothes, your favorite people, a quiet afternoon, a beach day, a rainy morning or a night at home.
And yes, a really good sweatshirt helps.
Our Cozy Edit brings together the graphic tees, sweatshirts, hats and laid-back home favorites that fit right into those kinds of days — all inspired by our version of casual, happy living in Hawaiʻi.
